Nose: Caramel, brown sugar, maple syrup, burnt honey, dates, cacao, nuts, ripe red fruits, wine, and some indistinct tropical notes.
Palate: Creamy and smooth. Loads of caramel, wine, red fruit, berries, gooseberries, Lyle's Golden Syrup, apples, and grapes.
Finish: Oak, cinnamon, cacao, and a touch of berries. Pleasant, but a bit short and forgettable.
Thoughts: This is Christmassy and desserty. It’s no trailblazer, but keep in mind this is Kavalan’s budget dram. I wish the finish was longer. Certainly throwing another 6% abv on top would do it some favours. It’s a superficial Kavalan, but very drinkable and pleasant. Unfortunately it’s priced as a premium whisky outside of Taiwan.
