Nose: Pears, apples, light honey, cinnamon, ginger, tart citrus, melon, and a mildly sharp grassiness. With time more oak comes out.
Palate: Medium bodied. Caramel, honey, artificial sweetener, malt, and indistinct fruits.
Finish: Grapes, baking spices, oak, roasted nuts, flat vanilla, artificial sweetener, and wet tobacco. The malt from the palate becomes a rather unpleasant graininess that tends to dominate the medium finish.
Thoughts: Things were fine up until the finish, which started off ok, but quickly went off course. I don’t like this wet tobacco/grainy/artificial sweetener flavour. Something in here reminds me of vodka, too. Perhaps I shouldn’t have bought this. I liked this whisky more when I was just remembering it.
