Rye Score: 88 ABV: 50% Region: Kentucky Bottle: 10/10

Unfortunately for me, not much rye whiskey has made it to Taiwan. Japan has caught the rye bug, but the rest of East Asia seems pretty unaware of it. It’s too bad for them, and too bad for me as well. For now, there are only a few decent ryes here. For this particular bottle, it took a friend in Japan to mail it over. I’m glad he did, because as it turns out; this is delicious, affordable, and apparently quite accessible to those of you in more “rye-friendly” climes.
Nose: Grassy rye spice, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, sweet citrus, wet cedar, faint ginseng, and more rye. The herbal character keeps the nose from being too sweet. There’s a bit of a sting here, hinting at the respectable 50% abv.
Palate: Smooth arrival with a creamy texture. Solid rye flavours. Rye, grass, pine, earth, and damp wood, with cinnamon rounding it out. I love that spicy tingle that only a good rye whisky can give us.
Finish: Lingering rye spice, burnt caramel, mushrooms and charcoal, with wisps of spearmint just below the surface. Medium finish, but very pleasant.
Thoughts: I realize that this is very much a standard, mass produced, accessible rye whiskey in the States, but its exotic here in Taiwan. And it’s good. For me; this is vastly superior to the standard KC. I find the standard KC decent and enjoyable, but not great. But this has just what you’d want from a good rye whiskey; good balance, rich body, and a nice grassy kick. And I’m a sucker for these KC bottles, too!

評語:
*在北美和日本,這一款便宜而且容易買到,但是在台灣,我必須要在日本訂購,
價錢和品質都很好,比起KNOB CREEK SMALL BATCH 我更喜歡 RYE得這一款,
因為味道平衡,強烈的酒質還有完美的裸麥味!還以一個很重要的原因是因為我覺得酒瓶很美~~
